Gunsite offers firearm training to elite military personnel, law enforcement officers and free citizens of the US.
We knowledgeable Americans take our rights very seriously, and the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States guarantees each citizen the right to keep and bear arms. However, with each right comes an equal responsibility to discharge that right effectively, legally, safely and within the bounds of morality. Rights demand responsibility.
Owning a piano does not make one a pianist any more than owning a handgun makes one a good shooter. Only an effective, safe and authoritative program of study can guarantee that in a moment of danger YOU will act to protect yourself, your loved ones or the ones you are sworn to with self defense firearms training skills.
Instructors are exceptional at handling beginners and advanced shooters all at the same time. Regardless of shooter ability, all three instructors were excellent at fixing problems, improving skills, and getting the best performance out of each shooter.
I am writing this to you to thank you and the entire GunSite staff for the excellent inaugural 250s class last week. I can truly say this was one of the best times of my life, and one of the best investments I have ever made. The whole staff are consummate professionals, the instructors themselves standing out of course. I was extremely impressed with their level of knowledge, experience, training abilities, and excellent focus on safety. They watched us like Hawks and reacted immed…
My experience at Gunsite was positive in so many ways. I am new to the industry and entered Gunsite reserved and cautious. Their attention to safety and thorough detailed explanation quickly made my comfortable and eager to learn. My confidence grew throughout the week and with their direction, it all came together for me. I feel the week at Gunsite was a great experience and an essential tool that I value. My experience was so positive I can’t wait to get out and do it again.
I just completed the Gunsite 250 Pistol course at the Thunderbird Firearms Academy in Wichita, KS. HOLY COW! I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the instructors, the facility, and substance of the training. The instructors told us “what” to do, showed us “how” to do it, and also explained “why” it should be done. They even demonstrated some concepts with specific drills, such as the “wobble drill”. These drills removed any doubt I might have had that what they were saying was true. …
The week of May 9th, my son who is a Police Officer and myself, also a Police Officer, drove almost 1600 miles to attend the #250 course. My son was a Cooper Legacy Scholarship winner, first off the staff at Gunsite are some of the greatest people you would ever want to meet anything they can do to help they are more then willing. We got to meet Mrs. Cooper, her daughter Lindy Cooper Wisdom, Mr. and Mrs. Buz Mills, which was a distinct honor for both of us. The tour of the sconce was a once in a…
The greatest strengths were the wealth of experience the instructors brought to the task. The patient insistence of the instructors. consistency of info from instructor to instructor. Tone established and maintained by support staff. Cost is a drawback but I believe the quality and nature of skills obtained is more valuable than the cost. General overall tone of professionalism and competence.
For the few revolver enthusiasts around these days there are not many options for learning how to shoot a wheel gun. Seeking the best possible training for the revolver I signed up for a one-day private lesson. The instructor was Jerry McCown. Despite having had 41 days of training on all sorts of platforms in the last 40 months I asked Jerry to start me from scratch on the revolver. After we got past things that I did know – this is a hammer, this is a trigger – I came to the realiz…
I had zero experience with pistol techniques and drills before this course. As a result of the class I feel a lot more comfortable and confident with my abilities. I really believe it will pay off while making my dealer calls. Many of the customers we visit participate in local pistol events and I can now relate better to them.
I want to thank you for all of the help and guidance you have given me over the course of the past week. As someone with no prior shooting experience, this intensive training course was intimidating and admittedly a bit frustrating for me. Initially, I was worried that the instructors would focus their attention on more skilled shooters, but was amazed to find that you all personally assisted each and every student. Thank you! My dad has been raving about Gunsite ever since he first cam…
After spending a week at Gunsite Academy for the Alumni Shoot and a five-day class, I was heading home tired but happy. I pulled off the interstate at a truck stop to get a cup of coffee and find my iPad (gotta have music to keep me awake.) Because I needed to open car doors to rummage through my gear, I parked nose-in at the side of the main building where there was space and no activity. Behind my car was a large open paved area with no vehicles. It was morning and I casually scanned …
