Columbus Day, OK Corral, Teddy Roosevelt, and Halloween all this month but all are eclipsed by our GAS Match!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have the Gunsite Alumni Shoot (aka GAS Match) behind us and what a Herculean effort by all the staff and instructors. Months of planning and effort was executed flawlessly (as the man would say). We had 145 entrants; the winner of the match, our middle score participant is employed by a local firearms manufacturer, the grand prize being a Colt Gunsite Pistol, Mark Gurney, donated the prize to the NRA Foundation and was promptly auctioned off for a reasonable sum forwarded this week to the Foundation.
Our second place winner, Paul Miller was also the winner of the first GAS Match in 1983. What a pleasure to have these folks back with us sharing the lore of the Good Old Days, back when our Senior Rangemaster was but a neophyte coach.
We had many prizes furnished by our vendors, supporters and guests, all of which we are most thankful for and too many to list here are on the website, www.gunsite.com.
All I can say is, if you missed this one you have another chance next year, October 6, 2012. This will be a great lesson to carry you through November 6, 2012. Which we hope will be the dawning of the second era of American Exceptionalism as we close the door mediocrity.
Our 2012 calendars are completed and will be shipping soon, if you do not receive yours by the end of the month, send us an email for one to gunsiteacademy@gunsite.com.
September was the 12 anniversary of our family’s purchase of the ranch, the 35t anniversary of Gunsite. This year is the Centennial of the 1911 pistol and we again paid tribute with 3 Centennial 250 classes, the week before GAS. This week we also held forth with the Battle Rifle class and the postgraduate 599 class.
The NRA, National Firearms Museum brought a historical collection of Browning’s many contributions to the ranch for display, Colt and Ruger, provided us with presentations on the history and manufacturing processes of modern 1911 pistols. We are ever grateful for their support contribution and efforts on your behalf.
With all this going on we had 20 Gunsite Firearms Instructors on the ranch with combined experience in excess of 450 years. Our most senior Rangemaster was here as well as the most junior instructor. Truly the most outstanding representatives of our industry. The Colonel would be proud.
October continues to be one of the big months on the Gunsite Calendar. This week we are presenting a full 350 class. Brenda, stay at home mother of 5, first time shooter last week in the 250, bested all comers, earned the coveted “Gold Raven” and is staying for this. Look out, guys.
Our SF Doc is here after a lull in his training program with the “Ditch Medicine” presentation. Close Quarters Pistol is moving ahead with class mates 2 to 3 generations apart. Gunsite is ageless and embraces all of us.
On the 10th, we will host the 25t Anniversary Glock Celebration with more than one iteration of the Glock 250 Class. Be here for the Glock Story from inception to present. GSSF and Armorer training will be featured. All you Glockophiles must go to the website www.gunsite.com and get signed on for this one. It is the only industry celebration for Glock and it is at Gunsite October 10 to 14.
We will be hosting also the Urban Combat and XLR, Extreme Long Range Rifle classes. We still have some room in these two so get on the horn with Karen right away 928-636-4565.
The 14th will see a 150 pistol class in Lebanon, IN.
The 15th is a full Team Tactics for 2 class here. While this one is full, we have room for you and your partner in the October 31 class. This is a great experience for folks living, working, and playing together.
Following this in October we also have two 250 classes, an almost full 270, General Rifle Class and a Long Range Rifle Class.
This is a big month, the weather is perfect for training and all that is missing is you. Give Karen or Dave a call with your questions and we will get you in for the time of your life:
Dave ken@gunsite.com
Karen shari@gunsite.com
In November we look forward to our first off site in Kentucky, check the website www.gunsite.com for details on this pistol offering. Too in November are 250 pistol, 260 shotgun (this offering is expanded greatly this year).
Take a youngster out to shoot this week end. You will love it and they will love it. This is a great excuse to sharpen your skills while passing on our legacy of freedom and responsibility to the next generation. Remember someone long ago did this for us.
