Congress is back in session. Have you called your Congressional Representatives and United States Senators yet? Have you sent them polite and professional emails and letters explaining your stance on the Constitution, Bill or Rights and the Second Amendment? Have you sent the same to the President of the United States?
About 145 or so “business leaders” have sent their letter. We outnumber them and our influence should be greater. But not if you don’t reach out. It is your responsibility to do so.
As to those businesses, it wouldn’t hurt to let them know your feelings and how you will vote with your wallet. For those wonderful folks with Air B&B that rent to our clients at Gunsite, the Air B&B head is on that letter. How will that impact your business?
Wal Mart: I’m happy for them. But I’m happier for the other retailers that Wal Mart put a strain on their business. If we had a sign we could change at the Pro Shop, it would say “Welcome Wal Mart Shoppers.” In my prior life as Sheriff, I tried my best to purchase as much locally as I could for the Sheriff’s Office even if it meant paying a bit more. My belief is that the local taxpayers would rather see their tax dollars kept locally. Also, who do we go see to support the local little league, prom, etc.? Remember we vote with our wallets with merchants.
Let’s get on with some Gunsite news now.
The phone system has been giving us fits. So, we are replacing it. In theory, it will be up and running properly by Monday September 16. Thanks for your patience with us.
Gunsite Alumni Shoot is three (3) weeks away. Have you enrolled? We currently have 215 enrolled and cap it at 225! Don’t miss out on the great prize table that is only exceeded by the camaraderie of the Gunsite family. We did have a terrible problem this year in planning: We ran out of ranges! With the ten (10) events, Cooper Cup and side-matches, we are at our max! The sponsors have jumped on this again. And let me say, there will be some outstanding Gunsite memorabilia in the auction. Just a teaser: Would you like the framed original Janelle Cooper brownie recipe (including the cocoa and oil stains) in a shadow box with some of her kitchen implements? Or the original “Gunsite Raven Corporation” corporate seal? The Milt Sparks handmade leather trash can with Gunsite logo from 1976 is returning to be sold again. Bring your checkbooks and remember it is a tax-deductible donation to the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation.
A surprise should be here from our friends at Bond Arms. That’s all I will say about that for now.
There are a few seats left in the double 250 and double 350 immediately preceding GAS. The Glock Armorers Course still has some room on September 28. (Register through Glock.) Friend and Gunsite Instructor Chris Edwards will be here teaching it. The Pistol Range Day 2 (Saturday and Sunday) on September 21-22 is near full. (Several folks tuning up for GAS!)
Post GAS is a 499 Advanced Special Pistol and the popular BRAVE (Ballistic Response Against Violent Encounters) and Defensive 3 Gun. Several good reasons to stay a week after GAS.
Remember that if you enroll for a 2020 class in 2019, you avoid the slight tuition increase. Helps pay for ammo!
October is always busy as the weather is grand. We have the Republican Women of Prescott here for a private pistol course, Shotgun courses, another Seasoned Citizen 250, Long Range Rifle, Ladies’ Pistol 1 and 2, Pocket Pistol, another NRL .22 Match (Thanks Dave Thompson) and several private courses.
November continues strong. We have the three (3) day Carbine 123 in Lebanon IN kicking off the month. Our partners Crimson Trace (You will see them at GAS) are here for a Crimson Trace 250. If you don’t have a laser, one will be available for you to use in the course. Advanced Tactical Carbine (556) Low-Light, 350 Pistol Low-Light, Seasoned Citizen Close Quarter Pistol (2 day) course, Critical Skills Pistol and Carbine, a Colorado Defensive 3 Gun . . . The year doesn’t slow down.
Enough for now. Time to get back to work.
When are you coming (back) to Gunsite?
