
Gunsite Performance Carbine 101
The Gunsite Performance Carbine 101 class is a comprehensive, multi-level training curriculum designed to equip students with the necessary skills to defend themselves effectively and responsibly. Performance Carbine 101 focuses on skill development, objective and performance-based training, and adaptability to individual skill levels. Topics covered include fundamentals of defensive carbine marksmanship, kinesthetic position and orientation, efficiency of presentation from low ready, high ready, and close ready positions, balance of speed and precision, defensive carbine response to individual and multiple threats, malfunctions, and support side shooting.
Gunsite’s Performance Carbine course is designed to build on a Shooter’s skills and confidence, developed in the 223 Carbine Course identify, observe, contain, and engage threats from 5 Yards out to 50 yards while utilizing iron sights, red dot optics, holographic optics, low power variable optics (LPVO) or fixed low power (3X-4X) combat optics. The general focus of this course is finding and engaging targets within 50 yards with greater efficiency, speed, accuracy, and precision.
The course objective is for civilians, law enforcement, or military members to utilize intermediate caliber carbines rapidly and effectively (.223/5.56, .300 Blackout, .30 Carbine, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62X39), to hit realistic sized targets in conflict and hunting scenarios within single or multiple rounds out to 50 yards.
Throughout the 16-hour training, students will confirm proper zeroing, proper equipment selection and setup, as well as learn the proper kinesthetic approach to deliberate and hasty shooting positions, rifle fundamentals with marksmanship, defensive performance shooting & manipulation, and data books. This course is designed to break down the fundamental base of defensive performance carbine shooting techniques and manipulation skills.

Equipment Requirements:
- Quality Semi-Auto Center Fire Carbine Capable of effectively engaging a target at 50 yards with 2 MOA accuracy or less. Carbine must be light enough to handle in standing position unsupported. 10.5 to 16 inch barrel is recommended. Suppressors are acceptable.
- 1000 rounds of FMJ Ball/practice ammo with 4 magazines. No Armor piercing, tracer or incendiary allowed. 5.56 NATO, .300 BLK, or 6.5 Grendel recommended.
- Rifle sling (Tactical Two Point – Examples: Vickers, VTac or Magpul)
- Eye and ear protection, dress for the weather
- Daily load out gear (Chest Rig, Battle Belt w/Two Mag Pouches
- Data Book or Logbook
- Extra Batteries for Optics and Hearing Protection
