March came roaring in like a lion at Gunsite with some interesting weather. We have had a wonderfully wet winter, getting us out of drought for now. However, that also created some challenges for the students in the classes. Some called and asked what we do in inclement weather. Simple answer: We train. We don’t get to pick the weather our fight occurs in. So, when it happens to you on a manicured golf course green and it is sunny and 70 degrees, it will seem easy. A couple from Maui during their 250 class in the snow, graupel and rain had heat packs in every pocket and their shoes. But they carried on with no complaints.
“Beware the ides of March” is soon to be here. The only thing one needs to beware of here is a Gunsite graduate! We finish up a double 250, 350, Tac Med and Pistol Range Day 2 this weekend. The ides of March bring in Battle Rifle, Seasoned Citizen 350, Night Vision Pistol-Carbine and a media event with our industry partner Mossberg. 499 Pistol follows with Seasoned Citizen 223, Tennessee 350 Pistol and another media event with Girls with Guns Clothing organization. We close out March (In like a lion and out like a lion) with another double 250 and the new AK-47 Armorer/Operator Class with Jim Fuller and Freddie Blish.
Our first “Day Zero” Class was held last Sunday. It is designed for the novice shooter to spend the Sunday preceding their 250 learning the basics in a slower pace. The attendants seemed to absorb the materials and most importantly, made them much more comfortable and capable when they arrived for class on Monday morning. We have another scheduled for Sunday April 16 preceding another double 250 class.
Gunsite will be attending the NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis in April. Buz, myself, my bride Shari and Shari LeGate (Director of Marketing) will be there visiting with Gunsite family and meeting with our vendors.
The release of the new Gunsite Glock Service Pistol (GGSP) continues to go well. The initial run of 1000 pistols is near being filled. Industry partner Davidson’s will be ordering another 500. We still have them available in the Gunsite Pro Shop with the special Retro Raven cover plate. Contact Susan or Lindy at the Gunsite Pro Shop.
Spring has finally arrived here at Gunsite. The sun shines, impossibly blue skies, and marshmallow clouds. But all the rain also means the pollens are active early. Allergy meds may be your friend along with the requisite ibuprofen for your class.
Time to get back to what I call work at Gunsite . . .
When are you coming (back) to Gunsite?
DVC,
Ken
