At the end of April we were thrown into May with no time for a newsletter and for that we apologize. The NRA meetings were spectacular in Houston, with an attendance of 86,000+ breaking the record from previous years. The NRA is busier than ever protecting our civil rights and for that we are most grateful. If you are not a member, join today. Our membership went over 5 Million at the annual meeting.
The good news is that we have ammo for all of our training courses. Hopefully ammunition availability will be better for the rest of 2013, we were very grateful to get a shipment just in time for our 2013 classes.
If you are looking for training June and July are two great months here at Gunsite. Remember when it hits 100 in Phoenix it is only 85 at Gunsite. There are still openings in our July 250 Pistol and 223 Carbine classes. Are you a graduate of 250 and ready to take your skill and training to the next level? If you are then the 350 pistol class is what you need.
Follow up either the 250or 350 course with a weekend of pocket pistol June 15-16. Many of us tend to carry these small easily concealed pistols and revolvers in the warmer summer months. This is a great opportunity to learn how to make the most of these summer time small carry guns. June also offers our Close Quarter Pistol course. This is a real world orientated class that focuses on the realities of interpersonal violent confrontations. You will learn practical, proven methods to deal with the type of situations you are most likely to face.
You can follow the CQP class with a weekend of edged weapons training. Edged weapons are everywhere. Understanding their use gives you an invaluable skill that is applicable in more situations than a handgun due to their commonality. Rounding out our June pistol offerings is Team Tactics for Two. We have room for one more couple in this very popular class.
On a sad note, popular gun and optics writer James “J.” Guthrie passed away in his sleep last week. Guthrie, 37, leaves behind a wife and two young children. J. Guthrie spent many good times at Gunsite in our media events and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
It is important to recognize the fact that at the same time the Boston Marathon bombings were happening, a horrible piece of legislation was being pushed through the Senate by Obama and the Left. Many considered it a done deal. The legislation was a direct attack on the Second Amendment of our Constitution, and the ability of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families against criminals, and an abusive government. The “Plan” was for the legislation to pass in the Senate and fail in the House. That way, the Obama Regime and the Left could use it to defeat Conservatives House candidates in the next election, by saying to the voters, that Conservatives don’t care about “gun violence”, and the little children who were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Well, their plan backfired, thanks to brave freedom-loving Senators in both parties who believe in the Constitution, and their Constituents.
Arizona’s own Senator, Jeff Flake was one of the leaders who helped defeat this outrage. Senator Flake believes in our Constitution, and is willing to “put his money where his mouth is.” Five Democrats voted with the Conservative Senators to defeat this monstrosity. Sadly, our other Senator voted with the Left.
We Americans don’t know where or when another attack on our liberty will happen, but our Founders understood that American citizens must be ready to stand up and react to whatever situations in which they may find themselves. Please contact your Senator’s office and thank him for defending our Constitution and our Freedom. If he didn’t protect your 2nd Amendment, let him know you are not happy.
Remember… Freedom isn’t Free.
Take a youngster out to shoot this weekend.
